DIGITAL SCHOLARS

in partnership with Discovery Partners Institute, UIUC, and UIC's CHANCE Program

Interested in computer science and a tech career?

The Discovery Partners Institute and UIC’s CHANCE Program, in partnership with UIUC, are once again joining forces to offer the Digital Scholars Program to build a deeper and more diverse pool of students pursuing computer science.​

Program Length: 5 Weeks
​Program Schedule: June 20 to July 22, 2022

Eligibility:  Rising high school juniors, seniors, and incoming UIC Freshman or City Colleges of Chicago students

GENESYS WORKS SKILLS TRAINING & INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

in partnership with Genesys Works and Everyone Can Code Chicago

Learn skills in business technology!

We envision a future where all young adults are equipped and empowered with the knowledge and skills required to achieve career success,
upward mobility, and a lifetime of economic self-sufficiency.

Genesys Works creates career pathways and opportunities for youth from underserved communities
while simultaneously helping employers fill critical talent gaps within their companies.

We do this by providing skills training, counseling and coaching, and paid internships for high school seniors
who currently reside in underserved communities and lack access to the resources needed to achieve sustained economic mobility.

Fast track from high school to a full stack software developer!

This program will help you cross the digital divide thru the “Earn While You Learn” model.
Earn an Associate’s Degree
Paid work in local software companies (20 hours/week)
Mentoring for 30 months
Across USA, there are 600,000 jobs open and only 60,000 4-year Software Development Graduates come from our Colleges!
(for 1 person, there are 10 jobs!!)

No experience needed.
By the end of the program, your team will have a working prototype and have an opportunity to present at the end of summer

This program is designed for participants to build a solid foundation in augmented reality fundamentals using Reality Composer, a powerful tool that allows students to create in 3D, transforming how students learn and connect with the world around them using Augmented Reality.

Do you have a story you want to tell using video?

This documentary filmmaking intensive is designed to provide all essential skill sets for a job in film:  pre-production, camera operation,
lighting, sound, and video editing. Participants receive extensive training while exploring the power of their personal narrative.  
​Working in small teams, participants will create an original short documentary.

This program is leverages the data science curriculum provided to graduate level students at Carnegie Mellon University.   You will work on a data project to explore a simple question -- for example, what are the characteristics of a good baseball team, or what factors contribute to a hit song.
